Hi, I’m Kacia

I’m 33, and have been living and working in New Westminster for the last 9 years. I have a great love for nature, growing up near the ocean in Crescent Beach and White Rock. In my spare time I love to explore forest trails, paint, create fibre art, as well as be an advocate for those living with epilepsy.

I completed my BFA at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2022, with dreams of becoming an art teacher. While at KPU, I had a grand-mal seizure, and discovered I had epilepsy. This diagnosis changed my direction, as I had to make adjustments to my lifestyle. Advised by doctors to look into careers other than teaching, I completed a certificate in graphic design at BCIT.

I am inspired by colour and how it can affect us emotionally, psychologically as well as neurologically. I am influenced by the natural forms found in nature, combined with bright and powerful colour combinations. I love to challenge traditional perceptions, and live my life full of colour.

By combining my artistic skills and knowledge with digital technology, I am interested in creating green designs that leave a positive impact on our society.

I am situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, otherwise known as Vancouver, BC. I recognise and respect that New Westminster is on the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Halkomelem speaking peoples.
